Getting Started
The Poker Room:
You are now ready to enter the Poker Room! Once you have made your selection, a screen will open with a poker table and players seated around it. You must find a seat before you can begin playing. This is done by clicking on the ‘Open Seat’ button and you will be assigned a spot or join the waiting list until one becomes available. It is likely that there will already be a game in progress when you join a table. You will be able to join in once the round is finished and you will be asked to post the Big Blind as the last person at the table.
You will have to use the following boxes and buttons during the course of the game:
- Fold to any bet – click this box when you need to fold your cards
- Sit out – check this box and you will skip the next hand but remain seated at the table. When you are ready to return to the game, you uncheck the box and you will be included from the next round. If you missed the turn when you were supposed to post a blind, you will be required to do this when you come back to the game
- View hand strength – you can use this box to assess what kind of a hand you have. Your hand strength will be noted under the pot size, which is on the table in front of the dealer. You will need to have your five cards, including the hole cards, dealt in order to use this function.
- Auto muck – you can use this to not display your cards, which can be used if another player has a better hand than you or if your bet has not been called. This means that your cards will never be shown regardless of if you win or loose. However, this option is not allowed during a showdown
- Auto post – This box enables you to post the blinds automatically
- Get more chips – this button allows you to buy more chips from the balance of your account. You can buy chips in the middle of a round but cannot use them until the next round.
- Re buy – this button allows you to buy more chips when you are almost out. This is subject to individual tournament settings and conditions
- Help – where you are now
- Options – this function allows you to adjust game settings
- Lobby – this button takes you back to the African Palace Lobby. The table will remain open and you will not leave the table when you use this function
- Chat options – you can choose the level of chat that you want to have in your game. The options here include the summary (a summary line of each hand), the dealer (all actions by the dealer) and the player (where players can chat to each other).
- History – the history button allows you to see the hands played on the current table during this current game session
- Stats – This will provide you with an overview of the statistics related to this table during the current session
- Player note – sometimes you want to be able to drop a note to the player opposite you. The player note function allows you to send a short comment to another player. The player’s avatar will appear with a note stapled to the name tag and the note can be read in full by hovering your curser over the name tag
- Your buddy – by clicking on another player’s name tag, you will be able to mark that player as your friend. You will be able to keep tracks of where your buddies are playing through the Lobby
- Ignore chat – this option allows you to shut off the other player’s chatting. You can also ignore or un-ignore a player by simply right clicking on their name badge
- The two small cards on the right hand side of the table take you to a Blackjack game
