The first step to playing Poker with African Palace is to choose a table. Each table is sorted by:

  • Game type - Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, Hi/Lo, 5 or 7 card stud
  • Table types - Limit, No Limit, Turbo, Heads Up, Micro and Play Money
  • Stake and / or blind size

The lobby menu tree allows you to navigate through the different options by using the + and – buttons on the list that appears in the centre of the screen. You also have the option of only looking at the tables that have an open seat available by using the ‘Hide Full’ tag. The table description includes the stakes, blinds, the number of players currently online, the average pot per game, percentage of players who started the hand and stayed in until the flop, the number of Poker hands and the number of people in the waiting list to join the game.

Clicking on the table highlights it and the following tabs will appear on the right hand side of the screen. You can check to see how many players are currently at the table and how many are waiting to play. If you would rather register for a tournament, the right hand side of the lobby displays the tournament details – you can register by clicking on the ‘Go to Tournament’ button.

Please note: Some of the tournaments do not have a visible registration list and you will only have the option of joining the waiting list. These tournaments start once enough people have put their names on the waiting list to play.

You can join a table by selecting it from the list and clicking on the ‘Join Table’ button. The table will open and you will have a 2D bird’s eye view of the seats and the table itself. Click on an empty seat to join the game or to add your name to the waiting list – remember that you will have to wait until the start of the next hand before joining in.

A player can join a waiting list by clicking on the ‘Join Waiting List’ button – you must specify the following when signing up on a waiting list:

  • Game type
  • Limit type
  • Stakes and blinds
  • Minimum players
  • Real money or play money
  • With or without disconnection protection
  • Number of player at the table

The Play Money tables do not use real money – this means that you are playing for fun and will not actually win or lose any money. These tables are designed for player practice and pleasure.

The African Palace Poker software also has a sophisticated filtering process in place for players who wish to only see those tournaments that match their criteria exactly without them having to trawl through a long list of tables and tournaments. You can set your personal filters by clicking on the ‘Filters Are’ button in the lobby center.
